I found the room with the crosses
That I'd heard so much about
I had decided to look for myself
To see what was all the shout
I seen the different crosses
I had seen them all before
I even seen some large ones
Too big to fit through the door
They were some turning
And some sparkled like the dew
With jewels of all kinds
Some a sapphire blue
Some were so dainty
They didn't even weigh a pound
Then there were some huge ones
That would surely make a big sound
Then my eyes fell on the cross
It's appearance was ugly to see
It was brown and woody to the touch
Made from an old rugged tree
Odd enough it had stains
Where hands and a head would be
And down at the bottom
Where a man's feet you would see
This cross was used to kill
A person for a crime
Even if they weren't guilty
The cross was not very kind
Could this be the cross
They hung my savior on
Where my sins were washed away
And the cross made us strong
Many crosses have been made
Some elegant and some plain
But the old rugged cross will
Forever be the one with the shame
When you view a pretty cross
Think of the blood that was shed
So that Jesus could buy us back
And give us eternal life instead

Hell Threw A Party
The devil and all his demons
Were shouting out for glee
The son of God was crucified
Today on an old rugged tree
"I saw him" said the demon
Who was causing the people to scream
"As they shouted away with him
And they became so violent and mean"
"I saw him too" said the demon
Who caused the soldiers to scorn
"They whipped & mocked him & on his head
They rammed a crown made of thorns"
"I saw him" said the demon
Who was standing with the scribes
"I heard him say, Father forgive them
As he gave up the ghost and died"
The devil was so happy
His plan had come to pass
Now he would be ruler of all
The world was his at last
But just then they saw a figure
A man tall and strong was he
As he neared where Satan stood
All of hell fell to their knees
"How could this be" cried Satan
"What do you want from me??"
Jesus smiled & held out his hand
"Oh, I just came for the keys"
As he walked away from hell
He took the saved souls with him
Satan knew he had not won anything
That the war was about to begin
So many years have gone by
It's been a war for man's soul
To choose Jesus or the devil
Hell or Heaven is the goal
Jesus over came for us
Death, hell and the grave
So we could have eternal life
Through his blood we are saved

To My Mom
I looked at you, you were closing your eyes
how the years had taken their toll
I saw in your face the wrinkles more clear
that is something we can't control
Your hands are so frail and thin
the needles in your arms for the drip
the frown that you made on your face
and how you tighten your lip
Your hair it seems so much whiter
I never realized it was so gray
where did all the time go for us
we were so happy just yesterday
I know that someday you must go
but I won't be far behind
For mom you've always been close by
as it will always be throughout time
When you make it up to beautiful heaven
and after you've have gotten settled in
just set another place at the dining table
cause I'm coming home to be with you again
Mom how can I go on living without you
what will I do when you are gone
I Know that my God will hold me up
So I'll just walk on, till I get home
As tears flow from my eyes mom
because it hurts to think about
a life on earth without you here
but in heaven together we will shout
While you are here with me mother dear
I will cherish every day and every hour
cause someday I know you will have gone on
to become one of heaven's most beautiful flowers
